Say "Ahhh." Use ResearchKit as a diagnostic tool for Parkinson's.
-
The user sees their activity right on their phone, which allows them to keep close track on their help.
-
Apple has developed apps for diabetes, heart health, and asthma.
-
Comment on this medical stuff: Freaking amazing. Good for you, Apple.
-
On privacy: "You decide what you share, if you want to participate. And Apple will not see your data."
-
New apps for Parkinson's, diabetes, asthma, heart health, breast cancer--this could be HUGE. No evident profit motive--Apple at its best.
-
Now we're watching a video about research kit, starring some of the doctors who have been working on it.
-
The audience is VERY into the idea of ResearchKit.
-
It'll be released next month, and the five apps I mentioned below are available today. Go get your diabetes monitoring on, people.
-
Cook: Crowing about how great the Mac is doing. Growing sales faster than the industry overall. While notebook sales overall shrank, Macbook sales grew 20%.
-
Reasearch Kit allows for health tests away from the doctor's office.
-
Cook is talking about "the definition of portability" meaning, he's going to talk about a thinner notebook.
-
Cook: We challenged ourselves to reinvent the notebook... and we did it... and here it is...
-
Video now. A bubble on a black background.
-
Now we're watching a video. There's a colorful orb bubble on screen. Did they slip us LSD in our coffee?
-
"When you're out in the world, you will see Macs everwhere now ... the definition of portability has changed in the last few years." - Tim Cook
-
A slim slab of aluminum. A flat keyboard. A wedge notebook, but less wedgy than current Air. All-black screen surround, no metal bezel.
-
Another video. Tim Cook is realy substitute teacher-ing it up today.
-
Now we're seeing a molten hot bar of steel on the screen.
Apple uses a "specialized cold-forging process..." that makes it "up to 80% harder,"
then it's milled and polished.
For the space black color, a "diamond-like carbon finish" is added. -
The Milanese loop (band) is made of coils woven together to give it a fabric-like feel.
-
Cook: "The Apple Watch Edition is... unique and very special."
The cases are made of 18k solid gold. -
Apple Watch costs $550 to $1050, depending on your band. Larger screen is 50 dollars more.
-
With beautiful, custom-designed bands, also made of solid gold.
-
There will be limited quantities...
"Priced from $10,000"
In limited stores. -
Apple Watch Edition is priced "from $10K." CC: Saudi Princes
-
Sport watch (aluminum): $350. Stainless Steel (silver or black): $550 and up, depending on band. The larger size is always $50 more.
-
Preorders for watches start on April 10.
-
And there's a new display in stores where you can see all the watches on display.
-
The 18K gold watch priced "from" $10,000. The larger size is $50 more. :)
-
Cook: "We want the world to know that the Apple Watch is coming." OMINOUS
-
Shares of Apple are sinking a bit on new of the mid and high end prices...$127, down from $127.50-ish when the event started
-
You can preorder a Watch on April 10, and get it on April 24. In between, you'll have to pay your taxes.
-
Cook is wrapping up now. Watch, Macbook, Apple TV, HBO, Research Kit.
-
Cook: "All of our energy is on making the best products in the world, that empower people and enrich their lives."
-
Cook is thanking the Apple team, asking them to stand up as per usual.
-
Jony Ive just stood up with the other Apple people here. I thought they didn't let him out of the bunker.
-
Given that you need an iPhone to use the Watch, I'm still not sure how mega a hit the Watch will be. But it's AWFULLy attractive.
-
I'm going to take my video guy to see the new MacBook at stuff, we'll have the shoot up later today!
-
We're going to be able to put our grimy little hands on all this stuff. Headed to the showroom now! Watch for pics.
-
Pogue is gonna hang out here and take questions from you guys.
-
See you soon! Thanks for watching so far.
-
Al Gore in the house, rounding out the applause at the end of the event.
-
No thanks Apple this is big mistake
You know what? I'm going to remember your user name and get back to you once this thing becomes a mega-hit! (Also, I think you mean "wear")

Is the Apple Watch Water Resistant?
User123at 2:36 PM
Yes, it is. Sweating, wearing it in the rain, washing your hands, or cooking with it are fine. Take it off before you swim or get in the shower, though. -
I wonder if they took 50 and older eyes into account with the watch??? Also can you go running with out your phone??? That is the beauty of many of the other health bands.
Debraat 2:37 PM
The type size is about what you'd see on your phone. So: yes, reading glasses ON. -
For Apple pay, how will the watch know it is me the one paying with it? the phone requires fingerprint scan
Adanat 2:39 PM
That's a brilliant question! I'll find out at first opportunity. I'd be very cool if it knew its own from the pulse patterns and stuff...but for now, it's probably a matter of being within range of the owner's iPhone. -
Apple Watch connects to iPhone only. From Apple: "Apple Watch is compatible with iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus running the latest version of iOS 8."Can you use the iWatch without having an iPhone?
