This is a foul. Valpo should be shooting three free throws.

Valparaiso 62, Maryland 65: Same seeds, no upset. Bryce Drew the 2015 Valparaiso coach cannot draw up a play that leads to Bryce Drew the 1998 Valparasio player results, and the Crusaders fall to Maryland by three. Valpo did not get off a final shot, after Drew called timeout with 13 ticks on the clock (though the Crusaders might argue the officials did not call a foul when their shooter elevated to take one). The Terrapins were led by acclaimed freshman Melo Trimble and senior Dez Wells with 14 points apiece. - Final

Maybe they should have tried the play Homer Drew was drawing up on that napkin in the stands. http://pbs.twimg.com/media/CAk-16cUkAAyjfR.jpg

- Upset Alert
UPDATE Valparaiso 57, Maryland 58, 3:11 remaining in the game: Valparaiso will not go away. Keith Carter drained a 3-point shot to pull the Crusaders within three, 58-55, just as it seemed like the Terrapins were getting some momentum. On the preceding Maryland take, Damonte Dodd threw down a monster dunk off a Dez Wells dish and it looked like maybe the Cinderella dreams of Valpo, nearly two decades after coach Bryce Drew's magic shot, were fading. E. Victor Nickerson is out of the game with five fouls and Valpo's leading scorer, Alec Peters has four fouls to go with his 18 points, so that's something serious to watch. - Upset Alert

Louisville 57, UC Irvine 55: Terry Rozier gets away with what looked like a reach and the Cardinals force a steal to survive the No. 13 Anteaters' upset attempt. (Louisville had a foul to give, so it would not have sent UC Irvine to line, but they would have retained possession.) Wayne Blackshear had 19 points to lead Louisville to the second round against Northern Iowa. - Final

Louisville survives. Rozier probably should have been called for a foul there. UL had one to give and was willing to give it.by Pat Forde via twitter 3/20/2015 10:20:46 PM

UPDATE: Louisville 57, UC Irvine 55, 8.9 seconds remaining in the second half: Anteater Luke Nelson missed a three from a mile behind the arc and Louisville freshman Quentin Snider was fouled in the scrum for the rebound. He connected on both free throws to give the Cardinals the lead back. UC Irvine has one last crack at tying or winning the game.
